Pop Punk artist Rich Simmons captures the quiet pause between creation and expression in this original work, a fleeting second where the artist stops to feel the freedom, release, and power of making art. With a paintbrush still in her hand, brushing her hair back, we glimpse her expressive eye and the subtle hint of a smile, leaving us to wonder what she’s thinking, feeling or about to create.

Though she is the muse within the piece, the artist encourages the viewer to step into her place to experience the flow state of creativity and to take their own moment of reflection, appreciating the beauty of being present.

Simmons created the dappled effect on the subject’s hair by using a ‘hydro dip’ technique, which involves transferring ink to a water surface, creating a marbling pattern and then immersing areas of the canvas into the water.
