The Gloaming (Yellow Drum)

Billy’s joy for life is clear and infectious as he recalls hearing the pulsing sounds of bagpipers lining the streets at the Edinburgh Fringe. He says: “The gloaming is a lovely word. It's that bit of the evening where the sun takes a while to go down. The place changes gradually. The light changes gradually, and Scotland looks astonishing at that time. It reminds you of things. It reminds you of times when you did things. It just reminds you of places and times.”

As we see the figures playing music, dancing and expressing their unique style, Billy gives us an insight into some of the most nostalgic moments throughout his life and career. It reveals life through Billy’s eyes, while inviting the viewer to enjoy it in a way that’s true to them.
