During lockdown, Bob Barker started working on very large canvases and this piece is one such example. Framed in textured black radiata pine, this hand-varnished boxed canvas edition is closer in size and texture to the original oil painting by Bob. The beautiful landscape is unique to Bob's work because he has depicted trees across the foreground and background rather than letting the horizon fade into nothingness. The effect is an optical illusion whereby the glimmering sunlight casts shadows through a grassy meadow and bounces off the trees to give the impression of hazy rainfall and dewy leaves.
