Mountain Road (Triptych)
Part of his series, The Beaten Path, The Silkscreen Collection, ‘Mountain Road’ sees Dylan continue his visual chronicle of the American heartland.
Within the impressive scale of this artwork, the viewer’s eyes are drawn to the intricate brushwork across the entire breadth of the artwork’s three panels. In this layered landscape, Dylan has created a warm pastel sky that envelops snow-capped mountains in the distance.
These contrasting tones and light effects could place us at dusk or dawn, nestled amongst evergreens as we approach this beautifully confronting scene. A departure from some of Dylan’s more arid landscapes, ‘Mountain Road’ feels bracing, yet tranquil.
“For this series of paintings, the idea was to create pictures that would not be misinterpreted or misunderstood by me or anyone else. The common theme of these works is having something to do with the American landscape – how you see it while crisscrossing the land and seeing it for what it’s worth. Staying out of the mainstream and travelling the back roads, free born style.” - Bob Dylan
