Pull Up To It, Pull Up

Pull Up To It, Pull Up

Showcased as part of his debut collection with Castle Fine Art, ‘Pull Up to It, Pull Up’ depicts the iconic singer, songwriter and model, Grace Jones.

Grace Jones paved the way for the 1980s alternative scene with her ‘neo cubist’ style and genre-defying sound in the 1970s. A nod to her 1981 track, ‘Pull up to the Bumper’, Boy George chose to portray Grace Jones in this piece as he admits he is ‘slightly obsessed’ with her. Reminiscent of Jean-Paul Goude's image of Jones for her pinnacle album ‘Nightclubbing’, the painting features black duct tape, adding texture to her geometric flat-top fade cut and razor-sharp suit.

Boy George’s extraordinary collection of mixed media original and unique artworks are a sight to behold. Portraying a host of known and unknown icons, they explore themes of identity, reinvention and judgement. A true maximalist, no material is off limits, resulting in visual feasts that pour out of the frame.
