Would You Let Yourself In
Mixed-media original on canvas with beads and sequins, hand signed by Boy George
Boy George’s extraordinary collection of mixed-media original artworks is a sight to behold. Portraying a host of known and unknown icons, they explore themes of identity, transformation and judgement. A true maximalist, no material is off limits, resulting in visual feasts that pour out of the frame.
This piece is hand framed with a bespoke design, created especially to complement the features of the artwork. In the words of Boy George, “A tribute to my friend Mark Vaultier, who died sadly in the late 80s. He was the door witch at Leigh Bowery’s club night, Taboo. Mark would famously hold up a mirror to people trying to get in and ask, ‘Would you let yourself in?’. It was cruel, but it made people dress up even more to make sure they made it inside.”
