Buzzie (from 'The Jungle Book', 1967)

Based on the classic book by Rudyard Kipling, Walt Disney's 1967 animated production The Jungle Book was the last film to be produced by him, as he died during its production. Consequently, the film has become an iconic favourite for Disney fans, supported by its heart-warming plot and magical music numbers. Initially, it was Disney's second-highest grossing animated film and it has since seen a number of re-runs and adaptations including live-action remakes in 1994 and 2016. Today, the original animated film, that contains this original production cel, remains as heartening and joyful as it did over 50 years ago, with songs like 'The Bare Necessities' conjuring iconic scenes and lines within everyone.

This original production 'cel' or celluloid would have been used in the original production process after an animators' original drawing was traced onto a sheet of transparent plastic and hand-painted in colour. It would have then been projected in front of a hand-painted background via a multiplane camera to create a minute yet crucial movement in the final film.
