Peter Pan: Jolly Roger (1953) Concept Art by artist Mary Blair
Mary Blair drew concept art for films such as Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan and Cinderella. The American animator, artist and designer worked for Walt Disney for nearly 30 years, creating impactful art who brought fairytales to life through colour styling and dreamy concept art. Mary Blair introduced Modernism to Disney’s studios, having worked on the 1955 “Lady and the Tramp”, the 1953 “Peter Pan”, the 1951 “Alice in Wonderland”, 1950 “Cinderella”, 1941 “Dumbo”, 1940 “Fantasia” amongst many more. In 1991, the artist was honoured as a Disney Legend.
Made in 1953, Walt Disney's Peter Pan was the studio's last ever animated feature film where all nine of the original core animators worked together; described as “Disney’s Nine Old Men” by Walt since their very first film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937).
Now mounted and framed, this piece is the perfect way to add a sophisticated and muted touch of Disney magic to your home.
