Muttley Persona

Voiced by the same actor as other Hanna-Barbera hound Scooby-Doo, the character of Muttley was created as part of Wacky Races in 1968 and drove with Dick Dastardly in "The Mean Machine". The hilarious duo ended up with their own spin off show after Wacky Races ended and Muttley's wheezy laugh became instantly recognisable which can almost be heard in this limited edition hand-painted cel.

Both the cel and the printed background pay homage to the original Hanna-Barbera animators' techniques. Each still in a cartoon would be hand-drawn and painted onto acetate cels and set against separate painted backgrounds to create a snapshot from an entire scene. But, prior to this, animators would hand-draw model sheets to explore the poses, expressions and features of their character while maintaining consistency in his/her appearance as they entered the phase of creating cels.
