Starry Night With Drawbridge at Arles
John has returned for 2017 with his new Vincent collection: a poignant homage to the legendary Dutch Post-Impressionist painter, Vincent van Gogh.
In 1888, the Langlois Bridge at Arles in southern France was the subject of four oil paintings, four drawings and one watercolour by the artist.
For his own interpretation, John added a cosmic sky, explaining: “It is a poetic vision of humanity’s place in the universe, whilst also showing the universe as a benign presence that is comforting and reassuring. In my opinion, that’s what gives this work its enduring power.”
