Through moments of restraint rather than action, Jones captures the figures caught in private states – thinking, waiting, believing. Painted in a black and white palette, the famous Birmingham gang characters take centre stage with the stark contrast of light and shadow, smoke and controlled light frames, emphasizing the raw emotion of the scenes.
