Published in 1970 and written by Marvel legend Stan Lee, “Fantastic Four #102” is a Marvel Superhero unique print of the issue’s cover, hand-signed by John Romita Sr. The team debuted in 1961 with “The Fantastic Four #1”, which encompassed a new level of realism in the comic’s covers. The team, who gains superpowers after exposure to cosmic rays during a mission in outer space, includes Mister Fantastic, the Invisible Woman, the Human Torch and the monstrous Thing.
An instrumental part in the creation of multiple Marvel characters, the late great John Romita Sr. was best known for his realistic, naturalist and fluid art style. American comic book artist, John Romita, is best known for his work on Marvel Comics including The Amazing Spider-Man and for co-creating iconic characters including Wolverine, Mary Jane Watson, and Luke Cage. Having heavily influenced the iconic look of Marvel comics we adore today, Romita was later promoted as Marvel’s art director and later inducted in the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame in 2002 and the Inkwell Awards Joe Sinnott Hall of Fame in 2020.
