Making It Real

Placed in their own little universes, Nic's tiny characters offer viewers an intimacy akin to peering through the windows into a stranger’s life. But within that glimpse, we can recognise ourselves.

This piece was made using hand-sprayed, cut-out letters, with a cut-out ladder in birch wood. The figures are made from bronze, with individual tissue paper dresses made for each one.

Nic says: “As I get older, it becomes more and more apparent what is important in life. We all deserve happiness, and we all need to strive to make it a reality every day. While happiness can never be a permanent arrangement in our lives as there is always something to test us, we can have many moments on our journey as long as we keep our eyes open to it. Spread the word, shout about it, be as happy as f**k as much as you can.”
