Behind These Eyes

Piercing eyes glow from behind a wild and carefree tower of Giraffes in this limited edition artwork by Raphael Mazzucco. Characterised by juxtaposition between wildlife and fashion photography, this incredible piece forms part of his introspective collection Grass Roots where the artist delved into his 25 year-old photographic archive to create a series of unforgettable artworks that celebrate and reflect Raphael's respect for Africa and her subjects.

Using locally sourced pigments and spices to enhance the monochromatic grasslands of The Maasari Mara, Raphael's internationally acclaimed photography takes on new life in these artworks with organic and indigenous tones and subjects. Accompanying an impressive portfolio of originals, this collection also signals Raphael's first major exhibition since 2019 and other crucial moments in his global career including his first trip to Africa in 1999 for an historically wild fashion shoot with Vogue.
