Call Of The Wild
Richard Rowan, a true lover of the natural world and passionate about capturing as much beauty in every way he finds it, returns with a new Spring collection in 2025. Creating a feel of wanderlust, the collection is full of moody and inspiring landscape artworks.
Inspired by his travels in the UK, especially the family trips to Scotland, in ‘Call Of The Wild’ Rowan captures the beauty of fleeting moments. While the contrast between light and dark, stillness and movement is perfectly conveyed, the artwork is about change and feeling the moment. Portraying the constant state of transformation landscapes go through, evolving on the hour, season and weather, Rowan captures not only the place itself but the feeling of standing within it, watching as the sky darkens or the wind changes direction.
Richard was listening to ‘A Place In The Sky’ by Hans Zimmer from the album The Creator Soundtrack when working on this beautiful intricate piece.
For over 15 years, Richard Rowan has trailblazed the medium of oil painting on glass to create artworks of incredible and atmospheric depth due to the being at the forefront of his very complex field.
Being at the forefront of his technique, Richard Rowan’s artworks are detailed with his characteristic photographic realism, illustrating the power of nature. The landscapes are reverse painted in layers on to the glass, which allows him to achieve the microscopic detail and preserve the vibrant colours. The method of underpainting from foreground to background, building layers in reverse, allowing each layer to dry before adding the next one leaves small margin for error and truly demonstrates Rowan’s beautiful, detailed artistry.
This artwork is a Hand-signed Flatbed Giclée on Glass by Richard Rowan and can also be purchased in a framed set.
