With the continuous swirling lines and the limited purple palette, Oxley precisely captures the essence of the majestic animal in this painting. Discovering that using one colour streamlined his work, he modified his approach to painting, finding the form of the elephant first before adding his signature drips. Oxley’s distinctive drip effect captures the fluid movements of the animal on the canvas.
