On creating this breathtaking landscape, acclaimed artist Scarlett Raven noted that: “When painting trees, I’m painting new friends and new lives. I feel like every branch has feelings, a story and a meaning. The upright trees give a sense of alignment, protection, strength and motherhood. Adding water really grounds a painting. I love the texture and calmness, and the translucency against the strength of the trees.”

Emboldened by life as a new mother, Scarlett has used bolder and brighter colours than she ever has before in this compact yet impactful artwork. The artist was inspired by the birth of her first child, and the imminent arrival of her second, to create a series of paintings that explore the natural world as if through new eyes.
