Taken from Stuart’s Lost Lives//Split Personalities collection, this multilayered artwork fuses his musical inspirations with a desire to reveal the many sides of the individual behind their artform.
To create his remastered artworks, Stuart takes his original painting and scans it before digitally reworking the image, changing colours and adding and removing elements. This is then used as the base for a final hand-finished version, whereby he paints over with a kaleidoscopic layer of colour.
This piece depicts the late British singer Freddie Mercury, who shot to fame as the lead vocalist of the rock band Queen. Stuart’s Pop Art style can be seen in the references to iconic figures, including Superman.
