Initially a parody of contemporary artist Jeff Koons whose work sold for nearly $60m at auction, these cheeky and rebellious hand-painted sculptures by Whatshisname began to adopt the behaviour of real dogs; modelled after his own three pets. Consequently, the aim of this piece is to evoke pure joy and happiness by mixing vivid bright colours with the natural yet hilariously exaggerated behaviour of dogs.
This piece is a result of experimenting and the combination of two different techniques. The artist used spray cans, creating a rougher looking effect with single droplets and paint runs visible, and a spray gun which typically gives a smooth finish as a top clear coat.
