Gone 2026 | Medium | Framed Set of Four
Hand-signed Flatbed Giclée Limited Edition Framed Set by Whatshisname.
In his 2026 instalment of the Gone series, Whatshisname introduces characters that are deeply tied to comfort and emotional growth, featuring Mary Poppins, Moana, the Toy Story 2 cast and Paddington. The utterly heart-warming monochrome artworks hold a cross-generational significance, as they portray pivotal characters in stories a lot of us grew up with and still carry into adulthood.
Acting as emotional anchors to simpler times, the affectionate nostalgia allows us to reflect on the influence of our youth on our future selves – we grow up and build our own relationships, perhaps inspired by the lessons we learned about friendship from these characters and films.
Instead of relying on detail, Whatshisname uses empty space, body language and muted colours to suggest the reflective emotions – turning ordinary moments into a deeper and meaningful connection between us and the characters.
Whatshisname was inspired to create the Gone series after dreaming about a figure from his youth. “They only appeared as a faded silhouette,” he remembers. “It felt like meeting with an old family member or a good friend who I hadn’t seen in a very long time. After waking up I could still remember the feeling, but I couldn’t remember who the person was, only a shadowy outline which could have been anyone.”
This set includes:
The artworks are hand-signed flatbed Giclée limited editions on Moulin Du Roy not 300gsm Paper by Whatshisname.
