In his Autumn 2025 collection, Whatshisname delves into ideas of friendship, inclusivity and acceptance by transporting us to Oz. While the fan favourite musical is deeply rooted in fantasy, which the artist captures with its the vibrant characters and fantastical settings; the tale of the two witches tackles real world issues, leaving a lasting emotional and cultural impact. As the extended hand of the characters touches the screen between us, we are reminded of the imprint their journey from unadulterated loathing to unlikely friendship has left.

Capturing the silhouette and aura of the characters whilst keeping them obscured, the artwork evokes the feeling and mannerisms of the witches in a still image. From their posture to their accessories, the artist has masterfully encapsulated the personality of these characters - finishing ‘Good Witch’ with a sprinkle of diamond dust, Whatshisname reflects her sparkling personality, whereas ‘Bad Witch’ is poised with her broom, ready to fly into the western sky.

Whatshisname was inspired to create the Gone series after dreaming about a figure from his youth. “They only appeared as a faded silhouette,” he remembers. “It felt like meeting with an old family member or a good friend who I hadn’t seen in a very long time. After waking up I could still remember the feeling, but I couldn’t remember who the person was, only a shadowy outline which could have been anyone.”
