Lending many ideas to the original Pop Art movement of the 1960s, Patrón highlights our shared perception of the world based on brands we enjoy and enhance our life. Likewise, the Jbis barcode functions as Jefferey and Michael’s unique signature which comments on an era of increasing consumerism.
By cutting-out the shape of the bottle, the brothers have created a sunken relief with a dramatic depth which is technique used by Ancient Egyptians to achieve a powerful line of shadow by carving below the level of the surrounding surface. In contrast, they have also intensely applied vibrant acrylic paint before adding digital photography and illustration. The result is a radical amalgamation of some of the earliest and most recent techniques of art.
