Out Of The Fading Light
Inspired by his country walks over the Surrey Hills, Richard Rowan’s spring 2020 collection explores the meeting of light sources.
Sunrises, lightning, sunsets and the night sky were captured using his back-to-front painting technique, whereby he paints in oil on the opposite side of the glass before scratching out the paint to add detail.
Richard adds: “It’s the crossover from where the twilight has left me – it’s the next part of the day. Looking up is where I am heading.” When painting each artwork, Richard listens to a specific song, which is detailed below.
